I know today isn’t my scheduled post day, but alas, I have a couple pieces of time sensitive news, so here I am.
NEWS 1: The diorama that I made for the Tokyo Toy Show is going to be displayed at “Ribon Mirai Festa” (an event held by one of the most popular girl comic magazines in Japan) on July 16th (Sun) and 17th (Mon) in Shinagawa, Tokyo.
NEWS 2: On the following Sunday (July 23rd), my diorama will be in Kobe, Japan at “Ciao Summer Festival” (an event by another girl comic magazine).
*At both events, the diorama will be made available for photo shoots if you would like to bring your dolls and take some pictures of them interacting with the scenery. 😀
Well, that’s it for the news. I’m happy that Epoch has decided to continue to use my diorama and that it isn’t just in some box sitting somewhere. 😉
Okay, now to the main topic of today’s article…”Whipple”!! It’s a toy cake and treat making kit. I’m sure many of you have seen the Whipple boxes in the toy aisle at the store, but these are Epoch products, believe it or not! I had a box of the Sylvanian Families version from Japan, so I thought I’d share some of the photos with you.
I saw the SF set at the toy show, and I was determined to obtain it. 😉
The box contains the items below. It has everything you need to make the items on the box.
It even comes with practice sheet for cream decorations. I am really bad at cake decorating, and had no knowledge of different styles of cream shapes, so it was a great help!
These are all the things I made with the kit. I have plenty more cream left, and it is super realistic quality (apparently, it was made for professionals for actual cake decorating practices), so I’ll probably use it for miniature crafts later.
“Hi, there! We’re going to show you all about these cute Whipple cakes!”
*These cute outfits are presents Mimip99 gave me at the toy show! 😀 She makes beautiful doll clothes, and also has an online shop. Check out her blog, Instagram, Twitter, and her shop! Thank you so much, Mimip99!!
“If you’re curious about the sizes of these cakes, they’re about this big when I stand next to them. I guess they’re just about the right size for me to eat!”
In fact, if you compare with the SF cake miniatures (Left 5), you can see that they’re pretty much compatible.
“The big Chocolate Rabbit Girl face shaped macaroon becomes a key chain! I heard this is what Mimi was really after in the kit. The small cakes can be attached to a ring that comes in the box. How cute!”
Yup, she’s right. I really wanted to make this key chain so that I can dangle it on my bag to spread the love in the world. lol
Oh yeah, I thought of a cute way to utilize my creations….magnets!
I simply filled the back of the cakes with some light weight air drying clay.
And hot glued a magnet on the back once the clay was dry.
I thought playing Whipple was a great way to get into miniature cake making. The cream’s quality is superb, so if you’re looking to just use the cream for your own crafts, that might be great, too!
P.S. Mimip99 also gave me a gorgeous pearl necklace. Thank you!!
